존 녹스는 자신도 모르게 바람과 모래만이 있는 황무지에 떨어 뜨려진다. 황무지에서 생존을 하기 위해 존은 안간힘을 쓰며 걷고 또 걷고해서 군부대가 있는 곳을 발견 하게 된다. 존은 군부대의 도움을 받아 살게 되고 아무것도 할 수 없는 나약한 존은 조금씩 강한 사람이 되어 간다. 문명의 끝에서 좀비는 인간의 개체수보다 많아지게 되고 인관과 좀비 매일 서로 싸우게 된다. 존은 이런 좀비에 맞서 군부대와 함께 싸우게 되어 인류를 좀비로부터 구하게 된다.
